Reception Teacher Role in a Primary School

About the Role
You will teach a Reception class, delivering engaging and well-structured learning opportunities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
The role includes planning creative and play-based learning experiences that support children’s development across communication and language, literacy, mathematics, physical development, and personal, social, and emotional growth.
You will create a safe, stimulating, and inclusive classroom environment while monitoring progress and ensuring every child is supported to achieve their potential.
You will work collaboratively with teaching assistants, colleagues, and parents to support children during this important stage of development.
Key Responsibilities
Teach a Reception class in line with the EYFS framework
Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning opportunities
Support children’s academic, social, and emotional development
Monitor progress and maintain accurate assessment records
Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating classroom environment
Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and parents
Maintain high standards of behaviour and wellbeing
Contribute to wider school life and Early Years development

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Experience teaching within EYFS or primary education
Strong understanding of the EYFS framework
Strong classroom management and communication skills
Commitment to high-quality early years teaching and learning
Desirable
Experience teaching Reception
Knowledge of phonics and early literacy development
Ability to contribute to wider Early Years provision
