Role: Teacher of Religious Education – KS3–KS4
Location: Hitchin, Hertfordshire
Contract: Full-Time, Fixed-Term Contract
Start Date: January 2027, for two terms
Salary: MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
A secondary academy in Hitchin is seeking an RE Teacher for a two-term fixed-term appointment. The school wants a thoughtful practitioner who can encourage respectful discussion, build religious literacy and help pupils develop balanced arguments about ethical and philosophical questions.
The Role
Deliver lessons exploring religious traditions, beliefs, practices and ethical issues.
Develop pupils’ written evaluation, reasoning and discussion skills.
Assess learning regularly and provide clear feedback.
Follow the department’s curriculum plans and support examination preparation where required.
The Candidate
Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
Has secure subject knowledge in Religious Education.
Can facilitate sensitive discussions in an inclusive classroom.
Differentiates activities to support a range of abilities.
Is available to start in January 2027.
