A large and ambitious Secondary School in Watford is seeking a knowledgeable and proactive HR Officer to join their central operations team from January. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in HR who is ready to step into a dynamic school environment where safeguarding, recruitment, and staff support are at the heart of daily operations.
HR Officer Role
- Full-time, permanent, January start
- Overseeing recruitment, onboarding, compliance and HR administration
- Working closely with the HR Manager and Headteacher

Responsibilities
- Managing recruitment from advertising to onboarding
- Conducting DBS checks, references, right-to-work, and safeguarding documentation
- Maintaining personnel files, absence records, and payroll changes
- Supporting staff wellbeing and HR queries
- Providing accurate and timely reports for senior leaders
- Ensuring the school meets KCSIE and safer recruitment requirements
Experience & Qualifications
- Experience in HR or school HR strongly preferred
- Understanding of Safer Recruitment (training provided if needed)
- Strong administrative capability with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills
Salary
Support staff scale, dependent on experience; potential for progression.
