An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly organised HR and Admissions Administrator to join a welcoming and dynamic primary school in Watford.
This is a pivotal role supporting the smooth running of the school’s administrative, HR, admissions, and payroll functions. You will play a key part in ensuring the school operates efficiently by maintaining accurate systems, supporting staff and stakeholders, and delivering a high standard of administrative service.
Key Responsibilities- Administration & Systems
- Manage and maintain the school’s Management Information Systems (MIS), ensuring all data is accurate and up to date.
- Support staff in the effective use of systems such as Integris.
- Coordinate administrative services and contribute to improving office procedures.
- Handle incoming communications, including post and emails.
- Prepare reports, registers, and support school compliance processes.
- Admissions
- Oversee all aspects of pupil admissions, transfers, and leavers.
- Maintain accurate pupil records and admissions registers.
- Manage waiting lists and process applications in line with school policies.
- Prepare census returns and admissions reports.
- Liaise with parents and external schools to ensure smooth transitions.
- Organise school tours and support engagement with prospective families.
- Human Resources
- Maintain confidential personnel records and ensure compliance with safeguarding requirements.
- Support recruitment processes, including advertising, onboarding, and DBS checks.
- Maintain the Single Central Record in line with DfE and Ofsted requirements.
- Monitor staff absence and produce reports.
- Assist with HR processes including contracts, payroll submissions, and staff changes.
- Payroll & Finance
- Support payroll administration, including staff claims and contract changes.
- Liaise with HR and payroll providers.
- Assist with monthly payroll reconciliation and resolve discrepancies.
- Provide financial administrative support when required.
- General Office Duties
- Provide a professional front-of-house service, responding to queries from parents, staff, and visitors.
- Support daily school operations including reception cover and pupil welfare tasks.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold safeguarding standards at all times.
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including events and team support.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working in a busy administrative environment, ideally within a school.
- Is highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
- Has strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and school systems/MIS.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can prioritise workload effectively and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Understands the importance of confidentiality, safeguarding, and data protection.

- Previous experience in HR, admissions, or payroll within a school setting.
