Are you a detail-focused Finance Officer seeking a hands-on role from January 2026? Do you want to support accurate, timely financial processes in a busy Watford primary school? Wayman Education is recruiting a Finance Officer for a friendly primary school in Watford. The Finance Officer will manage day-to-day transactional processes including purchase ledger, income recording, bank reconciliations and basic payroll support. This Finance Officer post starts January 2026, with a planned induction and handover arranged before January 2026 so the Finance Officer can begin the spring term confidently.

Main duties

  • Maintain purchase ledger and process supplier payments accurately and on time.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and monitor income from trips, lettings and school meals.
  • Assist with payroll input, expense processing and pensions paperwork in liaison with the SBM.
  • Prepare routine financial summaries to support monthly management reporting and audits.
  • Keep organised records for auditors and ensure compliance with school finance procedures across Watford.

Person specification

  • Experience in transactional finance, ideally within education, and strong numeracy skills.
  • Confident with accounting systems and Excel; accurate with reconciliations and supplier queries.
  • Reliable, methodical and able to prioritise tasks in a busy Watford school office.
  • Able to take up post January 2026 and attend pre-start induction and handover sessions before January 2026.
