Key Responsibilities- Teaching & Learning
- Deliver high-quality Business Studies lessons across Key Stage 5 (A Level/BTEC)
- Plan and deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that promote deep understanding of business concepts
- Prepare students for internal and external assessments, ensuring strong outcomes
- Differentiating teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including high-achieving and supported students
- Assessment & Progress
- Monitor, assess, and track student progress using a range of assessment strategies
- Provide timely and constructive feedback to support student development
- Use data effectively to identify underperformance and implement targeted interventions
- Support students with exam techniques and coursework requirements
- Student Support & Pastoral Care
- Act as a personal tutor, supporting students’ academic and personal development
- Build positive relationships with students to promote engagement, attendance, and achievement
- Contribute to safeguarding and student welfare procedures in line with college policies
- Curriculum & Department Contribution
- Contribute to the development and delivery of the Business Studies curriculum
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and resources
- Participate in departmental meetings, planning, and quality assurance processes
- Support enrichment activities such as enterprise projects, trips, or guest speaker events
- Wider College Contribution
- Participate in open evenings, enrolment events, and parent/student consultations
- Contribute to the wider life of the college, including extracurricular activities
- Engage in continuous professional development and training
- Essential
- A degree in Business, Economics, or a related subject
- Teaching qualification (PGCE/QTS or equivalent)
- Experience teaching Business Studies at KS5 (A Level and/or BTEC)
- Strong subject knowledge and passion for Business education
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to motivate and inspire post-16 learners
- Desirable
- Experience teaching multiple Business-related courses (e.g. A Level and BTEC)
- Experience in a sixth form or FE college setting
- Strong track record of student achievement and progress
- Knowledge of current curriculum developments and assessment frameworks
- Passionate about education and student success
- Positive, adaptable, and proactive approach
- Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills
