A well-established secondary school in Warrington is seeking a dedicated and highly organised Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving attendance, building positive relationships with families and supporting students to achieve their full potential through consistent school attendance.

Working alongside the Attendance Lead, Heads of Year and safeguarding team, you will monitor attendance across the school, identify patterns of concern and coordinate early intervention strategies that support students and families. You will play a key role in maintaining accurate attendance records while ensuring statutory attendance procedures are followed effectively.

This role would suit someone who enjoys working with young people, communicating with families and making a genuine difference to student outcomes.

The Attendance Team works proactively with students, families and external agencies to promote excellent attendance while supporting those who require additional intervention.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
  • Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
  • Producing attendance reports and analysing attendance data.
  • Identifying persistent absence and implementing intervention strategies.
  • Meeting with parents and carers to discuss attendance concerns.
  • Liaising with the Local Authority Attendance Service and external agencies.
  • Supporting Heads of Year with attendance improvement plans.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
  • Promoting whole-school attendance initiatives.
  • Ensuring compliance with statutory attendance guidance.
  • Maintaining confidential student information.
  • Providing administrative support to the wider pastoral team where required.

Requirements:

  • Previous attendance, pastoral or school administration experience is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Experience using school MIS systems is advantageous.
