We require an inspiring, highly driven Science Teacher to deliver outstanding biology, chemistry, and physics instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a progressive mainstream academy framework, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, practical-led curriculum designed to foster deep scientific enquiry, analytical reasoning, and confident experimental skills, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Combined and Separate Science public examinations.
THE SCHOOL
Our academy operates as an ambitious, inclusive mainstream secondary school dedicated to high academic standards and cultivating a strong sense of community responsibility. The campus features modern, technology-rich science laboratories and a collaborative, forward-thinking staff culture. Our behavior management framework is built upon clear expectations, consistent routines, and mutual respect, maintaining a calm, highly purposeful learning environment that allows pupils to confidently engage in practical investigations and independent research.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Practical-Led STEM Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality science lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practical investigations to demystify complex chemical reactions, biological systems, and physics formulae.
Closing Attainment Gaps: Identify and target learning barriers, deploying structured scaffolding, visual models, and targeted literacy interventions to accelerate the progress of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
Rigorous Laboratory Leadership: Manage busy school laboratory spaces with flawless adherence to CLEAPSS health and safety standards, teaching safe experimental techniques and proper handling of scientific apparatus.
GCSE Performance Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal Foundation and Higher tier GCSE Science papers, meticulously analysing mock scripts to eliminate misconceptions and maximise high-grade boundary retention.
Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related natural science discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public GCSE examinations across both Combined and Separate Science pathways through structured, explicit pedagogy.
Inclusive Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the patience, clarity, and adaptability required to inspire and support pupils of all abilities.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
Industrial Heritage & Black Country Innovation: Based in the historic manufacturing town of Walsall, West Midlands, the school capitalizes on a unique regional identity where a proud industrial heritage meets expanding engineering and digital technology sectors. This local context provides rich real-world links for chemistry and mechanics modules, connecting classroom science straight to local infrastructure and regional technical industries.
Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium West Midlands transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the M6 motorway (Junctions 7, 9, and 10), the A34, and the Black Country Route. Public transit runs flawlessly across the borough, utilizing the comprehensive local bus network and Walsall railway station, which provides regular West Midlands Railway and London Northwestern Railway services directly to Birmingham New Street, Wolverhampton, and Cannock.
