CORE PURPOSE

We are seeking an inspiring, dynamic Science Teacher to deliver engaging, high-impact science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (with potential Key Stage 5 opportunities). Working closely with the Head of Science and department staff, the successful candidate will ignite pupils' curiosity in biology, chemistry, and physics, driving academic progress and fostering a deep appreciation for scientific inquiry.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Curriculum Delivery & Planning: Design and deliver high-quality, differentiated lessons in line with the National Curriculum for Science, catering to pupils of all abilities across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.

  • Practical Laboratory Leadership: Safely plan and conduct engaging practical experiments, adhering strictly to CLEAPSS health and safety guidelines and risk assessments.

  • Assessment & Student Tracking: Routinely assess, track, and evaluate student progress using formative and summative methods, providing actionable feedback to accelerate pupil attainment.

  • Exam Preparation & Intervention: Prepare pupils thoroughly for GCSE Science examinations (Combined and Triple Award), delivering targeted interventions for underperforming or high-achieving students.

  • Pastoral & Departmental Support: Act as a dedicated form tutor, contributing actively to the school's pastoral system and participating in extracurricular science clubs and STEM initiatives.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a relevant degree in a scientific discipline (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or general Science). Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers are equally encouraged to apply.

  • Experience: Proven experience teaching Science at secondary level (KS3/KS4) within a UK mainstream school or academy setting, with a strong record of positive student outcomes.

  • Skills: Strong subject knowledge, excellent classroom management, proficiency in integrating digital technology into lessons, and the ability to make complex scientific concepts accessible.
