Maths Teaching Role in a Community School

A welcoming Community School in Taunton is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Maths Teacher to join its successful Mathematics department from September. This is a full-time role within an inclusive school that values progress, confidence-building, and high-quality teaching.

Mathematics is a core subject across the school, with students encouraged to develop logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence in numerical reasoning through a structured and supportive curriculum.

About the Role

You will teach Mathematics across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering clear, engaging, and well-structured lessons that build confidence and secure strong student outcomes.

Topics will include number, algebra, geometry, ratio, probability, and statistics, with a strong emphasis on developing fluency, reasoning, and exam technique.

You may also have the opportunity to teach KS5 Mathematics depending on experience and departmental needs.

You will work collaboratively within a supportive department focused on raising attainment and ensuring every student makes strong progress.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Maths across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 desirable)

  • Deliver engaging and structured mathematics lessons

  • Support students in developing fluency and problem-solving skills

  • Prepare students for GCSE examinations

  • Assess student progress and provide targeted feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support intervention and catch-up programmes where needed

  • Maintain high expectations for behaviour and achievement

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Mathematics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Mathematics

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching KS5 Mathematics

  • Experience working in a Community or inclusive school setting

  • Ability to support intervention or exam booster sessions

  • Strong track record of improving student outcomes
