An academically ambitious Independent Secondary School in Stoke-on-Trent is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Chemistry Teacher to join its successful Science Department. The Role
You will be responsible for planning and delivering high-quality Chemistry lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5. You will encourage students to develop their scientific understanding through a combination of engaging theory, practical investigation and opportunities to apply their knowledge to real-world situations.
At GCSE and A-Level, you will help students develop the analytical, mathematical and evaluative skills required for successful examination performance. You will also contribute to practical work, ensuring students understand appropriate laboratory procedures and develop confidence when conducting experiments.
The role will involve working collaboratively with colleagues across the Science Department, contributing to curriculum planning, assessment and wider enrichment activities.
Key Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging Chemistry lessons across KS3, KS4 and KS5

Teach challenging and stimulating theoretical Chemistry content

Deliver practical experiments and investigations safely

Prepare students effectively for GCSE and A-Level examinations

Encourage analytical thinking, problem-solving and independent learning

Candidate Requirements
Essential Requirements

QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification

Strong academic and subject knowledge in Chemistry

Experience teaching Chemistry at secondary level

Confidence teaching KS3 and KS4

Ability to teach KS5/A-Level Chemistry would be advantageous

Strong classroom and behaviour management skills

Ability to deliver engaging and appropriately challenging lessons

Good understanding of practical laboratory procedures

Excellent communication and organisational skills

Commitment to safeguarding and student wellbeing
Desirable

A-Level Chemistry teaching experience
