Physics Teacher
You would be joining an established Science department where Physics is taught through a combination of rigorous academic study, practical investigation and real-world application. The department aims to develop students who are confident with challenging scientific concepts and able to apply mathematical and analytical thinking to unfamiliar situations.
At Key Stage 3, students develop their understanding of forces, energy, electricity, space and the wider principles of physical science. GCSE teaching builds towards more advanced study of energy, forces, electricity, particle models, waves, magnetism and radioactivity, with practical work supporting students' understanding of the theory.
At A-Level, students are encouraged to develop a deeper understanding of mechanics, materials, electricity, waves and fields while building the mathematical and investigative skills required for university-level study.
The department benefits from well-equipped laboratories, specialist scientific equipment and strong technician support. Students also have opportunities to participate in STEM activities, science competitions, university outreach and practical enrichment projects.
Teachers work closely together on curriculum planning, assessment and intervention, with experienced colleagues providing support and sharing effective classroom practice. The school offers regular CPD, mentoring and opportunities to take on additional responsibilities as your career develops.
