A successful secondary school in Stockport is seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team. This is an excellent opportunity for an organised professional who understands the positive impact excellent attendance has on student achievement and is passionate about supporting young people to reach their full potential.

Working closely with the Attendance Lead, Heads of Year, safeguarding team and families, you will monitor attendance, identify concerns and coordinate early intervention strategies to improve attendance and punctuality across the school. You will become a key member of the pastoral team, helping to remove barriers to learning while ensuring statutory attendance procedures are followed. This is a rewarding role for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and making a meaningful difference to students' educational journeys.

The Attendance Team works closely with students, families and external agencies to promote positive attendance while providing support where barriers to education arise.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Monitoring daily attendance and punctuality.
  • Contacting parents regarding unexplained absences.
  • Maintaining accurate attendance records using the school's MIS.
  • Producing attendance reports for senior leaders.
  • Identifying attendance trends and implementing interventions.
  • Meeting with parents to discuss attendance concerns.
  • Working alongside safeguarding and pastoral teams.
  • Liaising with local authority attendance services.
  • Supporting reintegration following extended absence.
  • Promoting attendance initiatives across the school.
  • Ensuring attendance procedures comply with statutory guidance.
  • Providing administrative support to the pastoral team when required.

Requirements:

  • Previous attendance or school administration experience is desirable.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.

  • Excellent attention to detail.
