History Teacher

Wayman Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher of history to join a highly successful humanities department at an exceptional secondary school in Steyning. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to teach a well-structured curriculum across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, with the potential to contribute to Key Stage 5 delivery for a suitably qualified candidate.

Key responsibilities
Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging history lessons that inspire students across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
Plan and sequence innovative schemes of work that cater to a wide range of learning abilities using effective adaptive teaching strategies.
Assess, track, and report on student progress and attainment in line with exam board specifications, implementing targeted interventions where necessary.
Actively contribute to the wider life of the school and the humanities department, including educational visits and open evenings.
Maintain high expectations for student behavior and academic achievement, creating a positive, safe, and purposeful learning environment.
Requirements
Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in history or a closely related discipline.
Experience: A proven track record of teaching history within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).
Skills: Exceptional subject knowledge across various historical periods, confident classroom management techniques, and excellent communication skills.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
