CORE PURPOSE
We require an ambitious, mathematically rigorous Mathematics Teacher to deliver exceptional numeracy, advanced algebraic, and calculus instruction across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5. Operating within a high-achieving, academically selective environment, the successful candidate will facilitate a mastery-led, deep-thinking curriculum designed to foster abstract problem-solving, logical proof, and fluid mathematical modelling, preparing all pupils thoroughly for elite outcomes in terminal GCSE Mathematics and linear A-Level Mathematics/Further Mathematics public examinations.
THE SCHOOL
Our school operates as a centre of academic excellence, dedicated to nurturing exceptional cognitive capability, intellectual curiosity, and technical innovation in STEM disciplines. The campus features state-of-the-art mathematics suites, dedicated digital learning labs, and an exceptionally collaborative faculty of subject specialists. Our behaviour management framework is built upon an established culture of scholarly self-discipline, high personal accountability, and active learning engagement, maintaining an entirely focused classroom environment that enables pupils to confidently deconstruct complex mathematical theorems and engage in advanced statistical analysis.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
High-Tier Mastery Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver top-tier mathematics lessons across all key stages, systematically embedding advanced variation theory, rigorous algebraic proof, and complex non-routine problem-solving.
A-Level & Further Maths Delivery: Teach advanced pure mathematics, mechanics, and statistics modules at Key Stage 5, providing high-level academic scaffolding to ensure students successfully bridge the gap to university-level mathematics and engineering pathways.
GCSE Higher Tier Optimization: Guide Key Stage 4 cohorts systematically through the rigorous demands of linear terminal papers, meticulously tracking data to optimize multi-step problem-solving stamina and maximize high-grade boundary retention (grades 9–7).
Data-Driven Mathematical Interventions: Utilize detailed mock examination analytics via central tracking systems to design and deploy highly focused, small-group enrichment and extension sessions to stretch mathematical fluency.
Exemplary Academic Pastoral Mentorship: Fulfil full form tutor and academic mentor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting student wellbeing, managing university application guidance (UCAS) for quantitative fields, and maintaining professional communication with families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or a closely related highly quantitative physical science discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver outstanding progress metrics and elite high-grade outcomes in terminal public GCSE and A-Level examinations through highly structured, explicit mathematics pedagogy.
Aspirational & Analytical Ethos: An unwavering commitment to academic excellence, possessing the intellectual depth, structural clarity, and data-literacy required to drive exceptional student progress.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
The UK's Pioneering Aerospace & Biotech Corridor: Based in the historic town of Stevenage, Hertfordshire, the school capitalizes on a world-class regional identity built entirely upon technological innovation, aerospace engineering, and advanced biotechnology. The town's status as a major hub for global pioneers—including MBDA, Airbus Defence and Space, and the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst—provides rich, real-world applications for statistics, probability, mechanics, and computational mathematics modules, connecting classroom theory directly to cutting-edge regional space engineering, defence technology, and pharmaceutical supply chains.
Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium Hertfordshire transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the A1(M) motorway corridor, the A602, and the close link to the M25 orbital. Public transit networks operate seamlessly across the region, utilizing comprehensive local bus systems alongside Stevenage railway station—a major national rail interchange providing high-speed London North Eastern Railway (LNER) and Great Northern services that link the school directly to Welwyn Garden City, Hitchin, Letchworth, Cambridge, Peterborough, and London King's Cross in under 25 minutes.
