CORE PURPOSE

We require an innovative, creatively driven Art Teacher to deliver outstanding visual arts instruction across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Operating within a progressive Foundation Trust school, the successful candidate will facilitate a structured, portfolio-led curriculum designed to foster deep technical drawing ability, spatial reasoning, historical art analysis, and confident multi-media fabrication skills, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Art and Design public examinations and portfolio moderations.

  • Contextual and Critical Studies: Train students extensively in modern and historical art analysis, bridging practical studio skills with critical thinking, literacy, and deep contextual understanding of diverse global artists and movements.

  • Rigorous Studio Safety Leadership: Manage busy school art studios and kiln rooms with flawless adherence to COSHH and health and safety guidelines, teaching safe tool handling, medium preparation, and equipment operation.

  • GCSE Component Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of Non-Exam Assessment (NEA) portfolios and terminal externally set assignments, meticulously tracking design folders to ensure comprehensive evidence of research, development, and refinement.

  • Community Pastoral Care: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Fine Art, Visual Communication, Design, or a closely related creative discipline.

  • Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics and exceptional practical outcomes in terminal public GCSE Art and Design examinations through structured, explicit creative pedagogy.

  • Inclusive Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the patience, clarity, and adaptability required to inspire, challenge, and support pupils of all artistic abilities.
