Attendance Officer

A successful Secondary School in Southend-on-Sea is seeking a dedicated and proactive Attendance Officer to join its pastoral support team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for an organised and student-focused individual who understands the importance of attendance in securing positive educational outcomes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and punctuality while supporting students and families to overcome barriers to learning.

The Attendance Officer will be responsible for monitoring daily attendance, maintaining accurate records and ensuring attendance procedures are implemented consistently across the school. You will work closely with students, parents, pastoral leaders and external agencies to improve attendance outcomes and promote a culture of high expectations.

Key responsibilities will include carrying out first-day absence calls, investigating attendance concerns, analysing attendance data, preparing reports and supporting targeted intervention strategies for students with persistent absence.

You will communicate regularly with parents and carers, coordinate attendance meetings and contribute to action plans that support improved attendance and punctuality. The successful candidate will also support safeguarding processes where attendance concerns may indicate wider welfare issues.
