The Department & Culinary Science Culture

You will teach in custom-built, modern food preparation rooms featuring individual student cooking stations, commercial-grade refrigeration, and up-to-date catering appliances. Core Responsibilities

  • Nutritional & Food Science: Teaching the chemical functions of ingredients (such as gelatinization, coagulation, and aeration) alongside dietary health and recipe modification.
  • Flawless Kitchen Hygiene: Enforcing strict health, safety, and food hygiene standards (HACCP principles), ensuring students maintain immaculate work benches and tool discipline.
  • NEA Portfolio Guidance: Scaffolding GCSE students through their Non-Exam Assessments (NEA 1 and NEA 2), guiding them through rigorous food investigations and timed practical cooking exams.
  • Budgetary & Material Care: Managing ingredients and resources efficiently, promoting sustainable cooking habits and minimizing food waste across all year groups.

The Successful Candidate

We are looking for a highly efficient, creative specialist who loves food chemistry and has the structural skills to run a fast-paced practical environment. Your profile should include:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree or strong professional background in Food Technology, Food Science, Consumer Science, or Hospitality and Catering.
