School Caretaker

A welcoming Primary School in Solihull is seeking a professional and highly organised School Caretaker to join their experienced site support team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive school environment where site staff play an essential role in creating a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for young learners.

The successful candidate will provide day-to-day maintenance and security support across the school site and assist senior leaders, teaching staff, and wider office teams. Responsibilities will include carrying out reactive handyperson tasks, updating compliance logs, managing legionella and fire alarm testing records, coordinating refuse disposal, and assisting with the locking/unlocking of the school gates, porterage, and emergency cleaning operations.

You will also support communication with external repair contractors and delivery drivers while ensuring that all information and safety logs are handled professionally and confidently at all times. Strong organisational skills are essential, as the role requires the ability to work independently, manage a busy daily maintenance checklist, and respond swiftly to site issues as they arise.

The school is looking for someone who is proactive, reliable, and highly mindful of safeguarding parameters and child safety across a primary estate. Good practical DIY skills and general IT literacy for logging daily checks are important, alongside strong interpersonal skills.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a high-performing school community where support staff are highly valued and staff wellbeing, uniform, and relevant technical training are prioritised.
