CORE PURPOSE

We require an exceptionally organized, proactive, and technically skilled Premises Manager to oversee the comprehensive estate management, maintenance, and compliance operations of our flagship academy. Operating within a high-profile, oversubscribed educational facility, the successful candidate will lead a dedicated site team to ensure a safe, clean, secure, and fully optimized learning environment. This critical role holds operational responsibility for health and safety compliance, planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, contractor management, and the seamless execution of estate operations to support the academy's academic mission.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Estate Maintenance & Strategic PPM: Plan, schedule, and execute a comprehensive Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) framework across all school buildings, plant machinery, and grounds, while managing a rapid-response system for reactive repairs.

  • Rigorous Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure absolute compliance with all statutory health and safety regulations (including COSHH, legionella, asbestos, fire safety, and electrical testing), meticulously updating the academy's central compliance logs and risk assessments.

  • Contractor & Project Management: Source, vet, and supervise external contractors for major capital works and specialized servicing, ensuring strict adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs), budgetary constraints, and stringent safeguarding protocols.

  • Security & Emergency Response: Oversee the security infrastructure of the entire campus, managing CCTV, access control systems, and keyholder rotas. Serve as the primary point of contact for out-of-hours emergency call-outs and inclement weather site management.

  • Team Leadership & Resource Optimization: Lead, mentor, and deploy the internal caretaking and cleaning teams, optimizing shift patterns, managing performance reviews, and driving a cost-effective procurement strategy for facilities equipment and materials.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: A strong track record in facilities or premises management, ideally within an educational, public sector, or high-footfall commercial environment. Professional certifications in health and safety (such as IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH) are highly desirable.

  • Technical Capability: Proven expertise in managing complex building management systems (BMS), structural maintenance projects, compliance tracking software, and mechanical/electrical infrastructure.

  • Proactive & Leadership-Driven Ethos: Outstanding communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage a multi-disciplinary site team, coordinate under pressure, and collaborate effectively with senior leadership and external stakeholders.
