Our school operates as a key member of a collaborative Multi-Academy Trust, benefiting from a robust centralized network of pedagogical research, shared curriculum resources, and structured professional development pathways. The campus features a welcoming environment deeply committed to inclusive, comprehensive education. With behavior systems centered on clear boundaries, restorative conversations, and mutual respect, the academy maintains a safe, purposeful space that encourages academic curiosity across all year groups.
KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS
Practical-Led STEM Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality science lessons across all attainment pathways, embedding consistent practical investigations to demystify complex chemical reactions, biological systems, and physics formulae.
Closing Attainment Gaps: Identify and target learning barriers, deploying structured scaffolding, visual models, and targeted literacy interventions to accelerate the progress of all pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEND).
Rigorous Laboratory Leadership: Manage busy school laboratory spaces with flawless adherence to CLEAPSS health and safety standards, teaching safe experimental techniques and proper handling of scientific apparatus.
GCSE Performance Tracking: Guide Year 11 cohorts systematically through the demands of terminal Foundation and Higher tier GCSE Science papers, meticulously analysing mock scripts to eliminate misconceptions and maximise high-grade boundary retention.
Community Pastoral Care: Fulfill full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, managing daily registration, delivering pastoral curriculum units, and maintaining proactive, supportive communication with families.
PROFILE REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or a closely related natural science discipline.
Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public GCSE examinations across both Combined and Separate Science pathways through structured, explicit pedagogy.
Inclusive Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the patience, clarity, and adaptability required to inspire and support pupils of all abilities.
REGIONAL CONTEXT
Severn Loop Geography & Shropshire Tech Industry: Nestled within the loop of the River Severn in the historic market town of Shrewsbury, the school serves a broad community that blends exceptional historical heritage with expanding agricultural technology and engineering sectors. The proximity to the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty provides an abundance of real-world contexts for ecological and environmental modules.
Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus is well-connected for GMC and rural commuters across Shropshire and the West Midlands, utilising simple road connections via the A5, A49, and M54 motorway links. Shrewsbury railway station serves as a nearby transit hub, running regular Transport for Wales and West Midlands Railway services directly to Telford, Wolverhampton, Birmingham New Street, and Chester.
