Start Date: September 2026

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: Paid to scale (MPS/UPS)

A well-regarded 11-16 academy set in a Shropshire market town is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated English Teacher to join its successful English faculty. This is a fantastic opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about literature and literacy and who wants to make a real difference within a close-knit, supportive school community.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging and well-structured lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, following the AQA specification for English Language and English Literature. You will be expected to plan rigorous, differentiated lessons that build students' confidence in reading, writing, and oral communication, while contributing to the department's drive to embed a whole-school culture of reading. Responsibilities will also include maintaining accurate assessment records, contributing to data tracking points, supporting form tutor duties, and helping to run an extracurricular reading or writing club.

School Information

This is an 11-16 academy serving a tight-knit rural and market-town community in Shropshire. The school prides itself on strong relationships between staff and students, with a calm, orderly atmosphere and high expectations for behaviour and effort. Recent inspection outcomes recognise the school's effective pastoral systems and its focus on closing gaps in literacy for disadvantaged students. Staff describe a genuinely collegiate department where ideas and resources are shared freely, and where new colleagues are mentored closely during their first year.
