Site Supervisor

A well-established Secondary School in Sheffield is seeking a reliable, practical and proactive Site Supervisor to join its premises team on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is a varied role suited to someone who takes pride in maintaining a school environment that is safe, secure, clean and fully operational. You will work closely with the Premises Manager and School Business Manager, helping to ensure that classrooms, offices, communal areas, outdoor spaces and specialist facilities are maintained to a high standard.

Your responsibilities will include carrying out daily site checks, identifying maintenance issues, completing minor repairs and responding to requests from staff. You will help coordinate planned and reactive maintenance, monitor contractors working on site and ensure that work is completed safely and efficiently.

The successful candidate will also assist with opening and securing the school, checking alarms and access points, managing deliveries and preparing rooms and facilities for examinations, assemblies, parents' evenings, school performances and other events.

You will play an important role in maintaining health and safety standards across the site. This will include reporting defects, assisting with statutory checks, maintaining records and ensuring hazards are dealt with promptly.

Site Supervisor - Responsibilities

  • Complete daily inspections of buildings and grounds

  • Carry out minor repairs and maintenance

  • Report larger maintenance requirements promptly

  • Support planned preventative maintenance

  • Monitor contractors working on site

  • Assist with health and safety checks

  • Monitor fire, security and access systems

  • Open and secure the school site

  • Manage deliveries and contractor access

  • Prepare rooms for school events and examinations

  • Assist with moving furniture and equipment

  • Maintain outdoor areas and communal spaces

  • Keep accurate maintenance and compliance records

  • Respond promptly to staff maintenance requests

The successful candidate will need to be comfortable working independently while also communicating effectively with colleagues and contractors.

Site Supervisor - Experience and Qualifications

  • Previous Site Supervisor, Caretaker, Maintenance or Facilities experience desirable

  • Good practical maintenance skills

  • Understanding of health and safety procedures

  • Ability to identify and report maintenance issues

  • Strong organisational skills

  • Reliable and flexible approach

  • Good communication skills

  • Ability to prioritise workloads

  • Commitment to maintaining a safe environment for students and staff

A school-based background would be advantageous, although candidates with relevant facilities or property maintenance experience will also be considered.

Salary

The salary for this Site Supervisor position will be dependent on experience.
