Physics Teaching Role in an Outstanding Secondary School

An outstanding secondary school in Sheffield is seeking to appoint a Physics Teacher to join its Science department from September. This is a full-time role within a high-performing and supportive school that values scientific enquiry, academic excellence, and high-quality teaching.

Physics is a highly respected subject within the school, with students encouraged to develop analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong understanding of scientific principles through engaging practical and theoretical learning.

About the Role

You will teach Physics across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging lessons that develop students’ scientific understanding, mathematical application, and analytical thinking.

Students will study topics including forces, electricity, energy, waves, motion, space, and particle physics while developing confidence in experimentation, data analysis, and scientific reasoning.

You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Physics examinations, supporting them in developing strong subject knowledge, practical skills, and exam confidence.

You will work collaboratively within a successful Science department committed to maintaining outstanding standards of teaching and learning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Physics across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based Physics lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Physics examinations

  • Plan and supervise practical laboratory activities

  • Assess student work and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records

  • Maintain safe laboratory procedures and environments

  • Contribute to STEM enrichment and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Physics at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Physics

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Physics

  • Experience preparing students for GCSE and A-Level examinations

  • Ability to contribute to STEM enrichment activities
