The Role
A high-achieving Secondary Academy in Newham is seeking a professional, strategically minded, and exceptionally organised Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) to take leadership of their vibrant inclusion and learning enhancement department. This role represents a premier opportunity to design and deliver high-impact inclusive educational provisions within a heavily resourced East London academy.
The successful candidate will take full operational responsibility for the schoolβs SEND pathways, monitoring intervention success tracks and ensuring that adaptive teaching frameworks are seamlessly embedded within all subject departments. Primary responsibilities include leading a large team of Learning Support Assistants, managing access arrangement portfolios for GCSE and A-Level cohorts, and updating individual learning profiles. You will also manage statutory documentation registers, coordinate clinical consultations with visiting speech and language specialists, and manage key data reporting systems for local authority compliance audits.
You will act as a helpful and reliable guide for families, navigating them through the complexities of statutory provisions with absolute clarity and empathy. Strong time-management skills and robust data literacy are required to balance urgent student support reviews with systematic electronic log keeping.

Requirements
A recognized teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) with a degree in education or a related discipline
Successful completion of the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO) or the current NPQ for SENCOs
Deep operational knowledge of the statutory SEND Code of Practice, EHCP administrative frameworks, and local authority high-needs panel processes
Complete confidence utilizing digital school management platforms to log data and analyze progress metrics
Exceptional organizational skills with a proven capability to lead support faculties and chair multi-agency meetings safely
