A secondary school in Waltham Forest is looking for a Science Technician to join its established science team on a permanent basis from October.

Working alongside teachers across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, you’ll help prepare practical lessons, look after laboratory equipment and make sure everything is ready for pupils and staff.

The Role

  • Prepare equipment, chemicals and materials for practical lessons.

  • Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.

  • Maintain and organise laboratory equipment and resources.

  • Keep stock records and assist with ordering supplies.

  • Support teachers during practical sessions.

  • Carry out routine checks and follow health and safety procedures.

  • Keep laboratories and preparation areas clean and tidy.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working as a Science Technician or in a laboratory environment.

  • Good knowledge of laboratory equipment and practical science.

  • Understanding of COSHH and safe working practices.

  • Organised, dependable and able to manage your own workload.

  • Good attention to detail and a practical approach.

  • Comfortable working alongside teachers and supporting pupils.

Experience in a secondary school science department would be particularly useful.

Working Hours

The role will generally follow school opening times, with a typical pattern of Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
