Science Technician – Secondary School in Newham

Location: Newham, East London
Contract: Full-Time, Ongoing
Start Date: Immediate / ASAP
Salary: £85 – £115 per day / £24,000 – £28,000 per annum (equivalent, depending on experience)
We are currently seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Science Technician to join an established secondary school in Newham starting as soon as possible.
This is a brilliant opportunity to work within a well-resourced science department, supporting teachers across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and A-Level practical lessons.
Key Responsibilities:

Preparing laboratory apparatus, chemical solutions, and equipment for daily practical lessons.

Ensuring strict adherence to health and safety protocols, including COSHH and risk assessment procedures.

Maintaining, calibrating, and cleaning laboratory equipment and keeping preparation rooms organised.

Supporting teaching staff during practical class demonstrations when required.

Managing departmental stock levels, chemical inventory, and ordering supplies.
Requirements:

Previous experience as a Science Technician in a secondary school or higher education setting is highly desirable.

A strong scientific background (a degree in Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Pharmacology, or a related discipline is advantageous).

Good knowledge of lab safety standards, COSHH guidelines, and chemical preparation.

Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply for one).
