Science is a subject where the practical experience can make all the difference. An Outstanding secondary school in Brent is seeking a Science Technician to help its teachers deliver practical lessons that are safe, well organised and engaging.

You’ll be joining a busy department and will become a key point of support for staff preparing practical work. The role is varied, with responsibility for everything from equipment preparation and stock control through to laboratory organisation and safety.

The main areas of responsibility

Practical preparation
Set up experiments, demonstrations and practical activities in advance of lessons.

Equipment & resources
Ensure apparatus and materials are available, maintained and ready for use.

Laboratory organisation
Keep laboratories, prep rooms and storage areas clean, safe and efficiently organised.

Stock management
Monitor chemicals, equipment and consumables, placing orders when supplies need replenishing.

Health & safety
Follow the school's procedures for chemical handling, COSHH, storage and laboratory safety.

Department support
Work closely with teachers and provide practical assistance during lessons where required.

What will you bring?

We're looking for someone with a practical mindset and strong organisational skills. Previous Science Technician or laboratory experience would be beneficial, but relevant experience in a scientific or technical setting will also be considered.

You should be confident handling equipment and resources, able to prioritise competing tasks and take responsibility for maintaining high standards.
