Set on a modern, well-resourced campus featuring specialist STEM suites, interactive laboratories, and dedicated prep rooms supported by full-time lab technicians, this dynamic secondary academy supports over 1,200 pupils. As part of a progressive local Multi-Academy Trust, the school benefits from shared curriculum resources, extensive cross-trust subject networks, and structured professional development pathways. The Science faculty functions as an ambitious, collaborative department focused on practical inquiry, scientific literacy, and preparing students for higher STEM education.

  • Lab Safety & Compliance: Maintain strict adherence to health and safety regulations, CLEAPSS guidelines, and safe laboratory practices during practical experiments.

  • Assessment & Progress Tracking: Systematically evaluate student progress through formative lab assessments, mock exams, and coursework moderation, providing targeted interventions for underperforming pupils.

  • Specialist & Post-16 Contribution: Deliver specialist KS5 modules in your science discipline (Biology, Chemistry, or Physics) where applicable, mentoring students toward university application pathways.

  • Pastoral & Departmental Duties: Serve as a dedicated Form Tutor, participate in trust-wide science moderation, and contribute to extracurricular STEM clubs and regional science competitions.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or QTLS with a degree in Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or related STEM subject). Open to experienced secondary teachers and strong Early Career Teachers (ECTs) ready for a January start.

  • Experience: Proven track record of delivering secondary Science (KS3/KS4) within a UK mainstream secondary school or academy setting.

  • Skills: Excellent subject knowledge across general sciences, strong classroom and lab safety management, proficiency in integrating digital learning technologies, and the ability to inspire scientific curiosity.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

  • Local Area & Community: Located in Northamptonshire, the school serves a growing and diverse community balancing historic market towns with major regional centers like Northampton, Kettering, and Corby. The county offers an exceptional quality of life, featuring surrounding countryside, historic estates such as Althorp, and vibrant local communities.
