Salary: Β£45,000 β Β£55,000 per annum (dependent on experience and scale)

About the Role
A well-regarded secondary school in West London is seeking an experienced, strategically-minded School Business Manager (SBM) to oversee non-teaching operational functions across the school.
Reporting directly to the Headteacher and Governing Body, the School Business Manager will serve as a key member of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT). You will hold overall responsibility for financial management, human resources, facilities & estate management, health & safety, compliance, and administrative services.
Key Responsibilities:

Financial Leadership: Manage the school budget, set annual financial targets, conduct forecasting, manage payroll, and oversee procurement to maximize resources and financial stability.

HR & Personnel Administration: Lead non-teaching staff recruitment, manage contracts, oversee payroll processing, and ensure compliance with UK employment law and safeguarding procedures.

Estates & Health & Safety: Oversee school premises, maintenance contracts, site safety, risk assessments, capital works, and statutory health & safety compliance.

Compliance & Governance: Ensure school policies comply with DfE guidelines, GDPR, data protection regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.

Income Generation: Identify and secure external funding, grants, and lettings opportunities to generate additional school revenue.

Team Leadership: Line manage administrative, finance, premises, and support staff teams to maintain high operational standards.
Candidate Requirements:

Experience: Proven track record in financial management, HR, or operations within an educational setting (Secondary school or MAT experience is highly desirable).

Qualifications: Level 4/5/6 Diploma in School Business Management (CSBM/DSBM) or relevant professional qualifications in finance/accounting (e.g., AAT, ACCA, CIMA) or HR (CIPD).

Skills: Advanced financial literacy, strong analytical abilities, excellent leadership skills, and proficiency with school management software (e.g., SIMS, FMS, Arbor, or Access Education).

Safeguarding: Must hold a valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to process a new one through Wayman Education.
