  • Assist with attendance administration, including recording absences and updating relevant information.

  • Support admissions, pupil transfers and the processing of new-starter documentation where required.

  • Organise meeting schedules, appointments and documentation for school events.

  • Maintain filing systems and ensure records are stored securely and can be retrieved efficiently.

  • Handle sensitive information in line with data protection and confidentiality requirements.

  • Assist with ordering stationery and monitoring general office supplies.

  • Support the preparation of reports and administrative information for senior staff.

  • Follow school policies and elevate safeguarding or pupil-welfare concerns through the correct procedures.

  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other administrative colleagues to meet deadlines.

About the School

The school serves the local Chelmsford community and recognises that effective administration is essential to supporting pupils' education and wellbeing. The office team works closely with teachers, parents and school leaders to ensure that day-to-day processes run smoothly.

The successful candidate will join a professional environment where accuracy, discretion, teamwork and a helpful attitude are valued.

Experience and Skills

  • Previous administration experience is essential or strongly preferred, depending on the school's requirements.

  • Previous school-based administrative experience is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with school MIS platforms such as SIMS, Arbor or similar systems would be advantageous.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and general database use.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • High levels of accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy office.

  • Professional telephone manner and confidence dealing with parents, pupils and staff.

  • Understanding of confidentiality, data protection and safeguarding procedures.
