This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced musicians looking for a new classroom environment and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs). Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with potential opportunities to teach A-Level or vocational music courses for a suitably qualified candidate).
- Develop students' skills in musical performance, composition, listening, and appraisal across a diverse range of genres, traditions, and historical periods.
- Incorporate music technology (such as DAWs and notation software) effectively into lessons to enhance curriculum delivery.
- Assess, track, and report on student progress and practical performance levels in line with GCSE exam board specifications and school grading systems.
- Enrich the wider school community by leading or supporting extracurricular music clubs, choirs, ensembles, and school concert productions.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Music, Music Performance, or a closely related discipline.
- Experience: A proven track record of teaching music within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).
- Skills: Strong instrumental or vocal proficiency, confident classroom management techniques, and a passion for leading both practical workshops and theoretical lessons.
- A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
