Wayman Education is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a highly successful humanities department at an exceptional secondary school in Sawbridgeworth. This is a full-time, permanent position starting in September 2026, suitable for either an experienced teacher looking for a new challenge or an ambitious Early Career Teacher (ECT).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and high-quality Geography lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with the potential for Key Stage 5 for a suitably qualified candidate).
  • Foster a passion for physical and human geography, encouraging students to think critically about global issues and the environment.
  • Assess, record, and report on the development, progress, and attainment of students in line with exam board specifications.
  • Maintain a positive, structured classroom environment that supports the learning and well-being of all pupils.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including departmental meetings, parents' evenings, and potential field trips.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, along with a degree in Geography or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience: A proven track record of teaching Geography within a UK secondary school environment (including successful PGCE placements).
  • Skills: Strong subject knowledge, excellent classroom management, and the ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
