This full-time, permanent position is scheduled to start in September 2026 and is open to both experienced science practitioners and ambitious Early Career Teachers (ECTs).

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality, engaging chemistry lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (with opportunities to teach Key Stage 5 / A-Level for a suitably qualified candidate).
  • Deliver inspiring practical experiments that reinforce theoretical concepts while maintaining impeccable health and safety standards in the laboratory.
  • Assess, track, and report on the academic progress and attainment of pupils in line with GCSE exam board specifications and school policies.
  • Implement effective differentiation and adaptive teaching strategies to challenge high-attaining pupils and support students with diverse learning needs or SEND requirements.
  • Contribute actively to departmental meetings, parent consultation evenings, and the wider extracurricular STEM initiatives of the school.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: Must hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or QTLS, alongside a degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or a closely related scientific discipline.
  • Experience: A proven track record of teaching science/chemistry within a UK secondary school setting (including successful ITT/PGCE placements).
  • Skills: Strong subject knowledge up to GCSE level minimum, excellent classroom management techniques, and a passion for making complex scientific concepts accessible to all learners.
