A well-regarded secondary school in Salisbury is seeking an experienced and ambitious Head of Science to lead and develop a successful department. This is an excellent opportunity for an established subject leader, or an experienced teacher ready to step up, to shape curriculum, drive outcomes, and inspire both staff and students within a supportive, well-led school.
The Role
You will have overall responsibility for the strategic leadership and day-to-day management of the Science department, overseeing Biology, Chemistry, and Physics across KS3 and KS4, with KS5 provision where applicable. Alongside a reduced teaching timetable, you will lead curriculum development, raise standards, and ensure consistently high-quality teaching and learning.
- Leading and developing the Science curriculum across all key stages
- Driving progress, attainment, and outcomes through effective assessment and intervention
- Line-managing and supporting Science teaching staff and technicians
- Monitoring teaching quality and supporting professional development within the department
- Managing departmental resources, budgets, and health & safety compliance
