CORE PURPOSE

We require an enterprising, highly driven Business Studies Teacher to deliver outstanding business, finance, and enterprise instruction across Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. Operating within an ambitious, oversubscribed secondary comprehensive school widely celebrated for its strong academic progress and deep community pride, the successful candidate will facilitate a dynamic, contemporary curriculum designed to foster deep corporate understanding, strategic financial analysis, and sharp entrepreneurial thinking, preparing all pupils thoroughly for terminal GCSE Business, vocational technical awards (such as BTEC Enterprise), and linear A-Level Business public examinations.

THE SCHOOL

Our comprehensive school operates as a proud, community-focused secondary provider dedicated to raising academic standards, celebrating commercial innovation, and serving the wider borough. The campus features modern, IT-integrated business suites, interactive seminar spaces, and a highly collaborative humanities and enterprise faculty. Our behaviour management framework relies on strict organizational structures, clear behavioural expectations, and mutual respect, maintaining an exceptionally safe, orderly, and highly purposeful environment where pupils are encouraged to debate corporate ethics, analyse real-world market trends, and develop professional leadership skills.

KEY TASKS & DAILY OPERATIONS

  • Contemporary & Case-Led Instruction: Plan, resource, and deliver high-quality business lessons across all attainment pathways, utilizing current multinational and local case studies to demystify complex corporate structures, balance sheets, and marketing frameworks.

  • Vocational & Academic Qualification Management: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of both terminal exam content and internal coursework portfolios, managing the strict internal verification and moderation schedules required for vocational technical folders.

  • Analytical Data Tracking: Guide examination cohorts systematically through the demands of multi-part GCSE and A-Level case study papers, teaching pupils how to structure high-scoring extended prose responses using precise business terminology and financial data manipulation.

  • Closing Progress Gaps: Identify and target learning barriers within mixed-ability cohorts, deploying structured scaffolding, business model templates, and targeted financial literacy interventions to accelerate the progress of all pupils, including those with SEND.

  • Inclusive Pastoral Support: Fulfil full form tutor responsibilities within an established year group structure, supporting pupil wellbeing, managing daily registration routines, and maintaining proactive, positive communication with families.

PROFILE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualifications: Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching credential, paired with a strong honours degree in Business Studies, Economics, Finance, Management, or a closely related commercial discipline.

  • Pedagogical Capability: A proven track record or clear capacity to deliver strong progress metrics in terminal public examinations across both academic GCSE/A-Level and technical vocational enterprise pathways through structured, explicit pedagogy.

  • Ethical & Aspirational Mindset: An unwavering commitment to comprehensive education, demonstrating the clarity, adaptability, and professional energy required to inspire young people toward ambitious corporate and entrepreneurial careers.

REGIONAL CONTEXT

  • The Digital Media Capital & Industrial Waterfront Innovation: Based in the city of Salford, Greater Manchester, the school capitalizes on a world-class regional identity that has evolved from an industrial, dockside powerhouse into a global hub for media, technology, and digital innovation. The presence of MediaCityUK at Salford Quays—home to the BBC, ITV, and hundreds of creative tech start-ups—provides rich, real-world links for digital marketing, broadcasting commerce, multinational corporate strategy, and venture capital modules, connecting classroom business theory directly to the vanguard of the modern UK digital economy.

  • Connectivity & Infrastructure: The campus benefits from premium North West transport infrastructure, offering straightforward road commuting via the M602, the M60 orbital, and major arterial corridors like the A580 East Lancashire Road. Public transit networks operate flawlessly across the metropolitan area, utilizing comprehensive Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) bus routes, the extensive Metrolink tram network linking directly to the Quays and central Manchester, and Salford Crescent railway station, which provides high-frequency rail services connecting the school to the wider North West network.
