We are seeking a nurturing, enthusiastic, and dedicated Reception Teacher to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Romford, starting as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who is passionate about Early Years education and committed to giving children the strongest possible start to their learning journey.

The successful candidate will take full responsibility for a Reception class, delivering high-quality teaching and learning in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage framework. The Role

  • Plan and deliver engaging learning experiences that promote development across all areas of the EYFS.
  • Create a well-organised, stimulating classroom and outdoor environment that supports learning through play and exploration.
  • Observation, assessment, and planning next steps will be central to your role, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive.
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues to ensure consistency and high-quality provision.
  • Building strong relationships with parents and carers will be a key part of the role, supporting children’s development both in school and at home.

  • Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality Reception provision in line with the EYFS.
  • Create a nurturing, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment.
  • Observe, assess, and record children’s progress accurately.
  • Use assessment to inform planning and next steps.
  • Support children’s personal, social, and emotional development.
  • Promote positive behaviour, independence, and communication skills.
  • Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and Early Years colleagues.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Have experience teaching in Reception or Early Years.
  • Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EYFS framework.
  • Be nurturing, patient, and enthusiastic.
  • Have excellent classroom organisation and behaviour management skills.
  • Be reflective, adaptable, and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and inclusion.
