A high-performing secondary school in Richmond upon Thames is looking for a Science Technician to join its established science department on a permanent basis.
You’ll work closely with teaching staff to make sure practical lessons run smoothly, from preparing equipment and materials through to maintaining laboratories and managing stock.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare practical equipment, chemicals and materials for lessons.

Set up and clear away experiments and demonstrations.

Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure resources are available.

Support teachers during practical lessons.

Monitor stock and assist with ordering supplies.

Keep laboratories clean, organised and safe.

Follow all relevant health and safety and COSHH procedures.
What We’re Looking For
-
Previous Science Technician or relevant laboratory experience.

Good practical knowledge of Biology, Chemistry and/or Physics.

Understanding of laboratory safety and chemical handling.

Organised, reliable and able to work independently.

Good attention to detail and time management.
-
Comfortable working in a busy school environment.
Experience with GCSE and A-Level practical work would be an advantage.
Working Hours
The role will generally follow school opening times, with a typical pattern of Monday to Thursday, 8:30am–4:30pm, and Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm.
