A welcoming secondary academy in Reading is seeking a talented, versatile Music Teacher to join its Expressive Arts faculty for an immediate start. This is an exceptional opportunity for a practitioner passionate about practical music-making, ensemble coaching, and fostering a love for music in young people.

Music plays a prominent role in this school’s academic and co-curricular identity. The successful applicant will deliver practical and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (GCSE Music / Vocational Music Practice), with potential Key Stage 5 A-Level Music and Music Technology delivery.

Working closely with the Expressive Arts department and peripatetic tutors, you will guide pupils through keyboard skills, composition software, vocal performance, and live music evaluation, while directing extra-curricular musical ensembles. This is a full-time, ongoing or permanent role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach engaging practical and theoretical Music lessons across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5.
  • Direct and assist with extra-curricular music ensembles, choirs, bands, and seasonal school concerts.
  • Guide GCSE and A-Level pupils through composition tasks, practical performances, and written exam preparation.
  • Maintain music classroom spaces, practice rooms, digital recording equipment, and instrument inventories safely.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress across practical performance, composition coursework, and listening papers.
  • Fulfill pastoral duties as a Form Tutor, supporting student wellbeing and personal development.
