A friendly and well-established primary school in Reading is looking to appoint a School Receptionist to join its support staff team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026. As the first point of contact for pupils, parents and visitors, the School Receptionist plays an important role in creating a welcoming and professional environment. The successful candidate will become a key member of the school's administration team, helping to ensure the day-to-day running of the front office is efficient, organised and supportive.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or receptionist who enjoys working with people and thrives in a busy, rewarding environment.
The Role
Working closely with the School Business Manager and wider administration team, the successful candidate will provide an efficient front-of-house service while supporting a range of administrative functions. Responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming visitors, parents and contractors to the school
- Managing incoming telephone calls, emails and general enquiries
- Maintaining visitor records and safeguarding procedures
- Supporting pupil admissions and maintaining accurate records
- Assisting with general administration, filing and correspondence
- Updating the school's management information system (MIS)
- Ordering office supplies and supporting the smooth running of the reception area
- Providing administrative support to senior leaders when required

The Successful Candidate
The school is seeking a friendly, organised and professional individual with previous experience in a receptionist, customer service or administrative role. Previous experience working within a school or knowledge of school MIS systems would be beneficial but is not essential.
