A friendly Primary School in Reading is looking to appoint a dedicated School Caretaker to join its team on a full-time, permanent basis from September 2026. Working alongside the School Business Manager and leadership team, you'll help maintain a safe, compliant and inviting learning environment for everyone on site.
The RoleThe School Caretaker will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and presentation of the school premises. Responsibilities include:
- Opening and locking the school each day
- Carrying out routine maintenance, repairs and decorating
- Maintaining the school grounds and outdoor areas
- Completing regular health and safety inspections
- Reporting and responding to maintenance issues promptly
- Liaising with contractors and monitoring works on site
- Setting up classrooms, halls and outdoor spaces for school activities and events
- Ensuring the site remains clean, secure and compliant with health and safety regulations
