We are seeking an experienced School Administrator to join the office team of a busy secondary school in Reading. The role requires someone who can work accurately and efficiently while managing a varied workload. You will support the school's day-to-day administration, maintain records and provide a professional service to staff, pupils, parents and visitors.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide general administrative support across the school.
- Maintain accurate pupil records and documentation.
- Update the school's MIS/database.
- Prepare letters, reports and correspondence.
- Maintain filing systems and administrative records.
- Support meetings, appointments and school events.
- Assist staff with day-to-day administrative requirements.
- Act as a professional first point of contact for visitors and parents.
- Answer telephone calls and respond to enquiries.
- Manage incoming correspondence and emails.
- Provide reception cover as required.
- Liaise with staff, pupils and external professionals.
- Complete accurate data entry and checks.
- Maintain Excel spreadsheets and trackers.
- Assist with reports and information requests.
- Ensure documentation is complete and up to date.
- Handle sensitive information in accordance with school procedures.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in school administration.
- Experience using a school MIS/database.
- Good Microsoft Office and Excel skills.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure.
- Ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Confidence working independently and using initiative.
- Understanding of safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection.
- Experience of Arbor, attendance administration, admissions or working within a specialist/SEND setting would be advantageous.
