The successful candidate will take full strategic responsibility for the Mathematics department, driving curriculum development, data tracking, and pedagogical standards across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 (GCSE Higher and Foundation), and Key Stage 5 (A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics).

Leading a team of specialist mathematicians, you will cultivate a culture of numerical fluency, problem-solving confidence, and academic ambition across all year groups. This is a full-time, permanent position designed for a proven leader committed to educational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership, vision, and curriculum mapping for the Mathematics department across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Line manage, mentor, and develop department staff, conducting regular lesson observations and work scrutinies to maintain teaching standards

  • Implement rigorous data tracking systems to monitor student progress and coordinate targeted exam preparation interventions

  • Lead on the delivery of GCSE, A-Level Mathematics, and A-Level Further Mathematics specifications to maximize pupil attainment

  • Coordinate departmental involvement in external competitions, including the UKMT Mathematics Challenges and regional masterclasses

  • Oversee the departmental budget, digital learning software subscriptions, and textbook resourcing

  • Serve as a Form Tutor, contributing to the holistic pastoral framework of the school

  • Collaborate with Senior Leadership on whole-school numeracy strategies and academic policies

Candidate Requirements

The ideal candidate will feature:

  • Proven track record of outstanding GCSE and A-Level Mathematics outcomes

  • Previous departmental leadership experience (e.g., 2i/c, Key Stage Coordinator, or experienced Head of Department)

  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and interpersonal leadership skills

  • An ambitious, scholarly, and supportive approach to leading a core academic department
