A high-performing and academically focused secondary school in Reading is seeking a talented and ambitious 2iC Science to join its successful Science department from September. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science Teacher ready to step into leadership, or an existing 2iC Science, to play a key role in driving standards and supporting departmental development.

The successful 2iC Science will teach Science across KS3–KS5 while supporting the Head of Department in leading a large and high-achieving team.

The Role

The school is looking for a motivated and forward-thinking 2iC Science who can support the strategic and operational leadership of the department while maintaining excellent classroom practice.

Key responsibilities of the 2iC Science include:
  • Supporting the Head of Science in leading the department across KS3–KS5
  • Teaching Science, with specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics
  • Assisting with curriculum development, assessment, and quality of teaching
  • Monitoring student progress and implementing strategies to raise attainment
  • Mentoring and supporting teachers, including ECTs within the department
  • Contributing to departmental planning and whole-school initiatives
