Our client is seeking a knowledgeable and enthusiastic Psychology Teacher to join an educational setting in Peterborough. This is an excellent opportunity for a teacher who enjoys exploring human behaviour, mental processes and the factors that influence the way people think, feel and act. Psychology encourages students to approach questions with curiosity, evaluate research and consider evidence from different perspectives.

The successful candidate will help students develop a secure understanding of psychological theories, research methods and key concepts while learning how to apply their knowledge to relevant examples. Teaching responsibilities will depend on the school's curriculum and may include GCSE-level Psychology, A-level Psychology or related subjects where appropriate.

The successful applicant should be comfortable explaining complex ideas in an accessible manner and helping students understand the difference between opinion, evidence and scientific explanation. A key aspect of the role will involve preparing students for formal assessment. You will help learners develop their written responses, use subject-specific terminology accurately, evaluate research studies and structure extended answers effectively. Regular feedback and targeted revision will be important in helping students recognise their strengths and improve areas of weakness.

The school is looking for a teacher who can encourage meaningful classroom discussion while ensuring that sensitive topics are handled professionally and appropriately. You should be able to create a respectful learning environment where students feel comfortable engaging with challenging material and considering different viewpoints.

The school or college is located in Peterborough and aims to provide students with an engaging education that prepares them for further study and future employment. Staff work to develop students' subject knowledge, independent learning skills and confidence in communicating their ideas. Psychology offers opportunities to connect academic theory with everyday experiences and wider social questions.

The successful teacher will help students understand how research is conducted, why evidence matters and how psychological explanations can be evaluated critically. The department will benefit from a teacher who is organised, reflective and committed to maintaining a well-planned curriculum. Collaboration with colleagues, consistent assessment and clear feedback will support students in making progress and developing the academic skills needed for examinations.

This role would suit someone who is passionate about Psychology and keen to encourage students to think independently, ask thoughtful questions and develop a deeper understanding of human behaviour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Encourage respectful discussion and appropriate engagement with sensitive topics.
  • Differentiating learning activities to support varied abilities and levels of prior knowledge.
  • Contribute to curriculum planning and the development of teaching resources.
