About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging practical and theory-based lessons that inspire students to explore Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.

Students follow a broad and academically ambitious curriculum that combines scientific theory with investigative practical work, developing analytical thinking, experimental techniques, and scientific literacy. At Key Stage 5, you will have the opportunity to teach your specialist discipline, preparing students for A-Level examinations and supporting progression to leading universities and STEM-related careers.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through science societies, STEM enrichment activities, Olympiad competitions, educational visits, guest speaker programmes, and co-curricular opportunities that encourage students to develop a lifelong enthusiasm for scientific discovery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theory-based lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations

  • Plan and supervise practical investigations safely and effectively

  • Assess progress and provide high-quality, constructive feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent teaching qualification

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Science in a specialist discipline

  • Experience contributing to STEM enrichment or science competitions

  • Ability to support a broad co-curricular programme

  • A proven track record of delivering outstanding student outcomes
