Science Teacher Role in a Grammar School

About the Role

The successful candidate will teach Science across Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4, and Key Stage 5, delivering engaging and academically challenging lessons that encourage students to develop a deep understanding of scientific concepts.

Students follow a broad curriculum across Biology, Chemistry, and Physics, with a strong focus on practical investigation, scientific enquiry, and analytical thinking. You will prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations while encouraging them to explore scientific ideas and develop the skills needed for future study and STEM careers.

You will also contribute to the wider life of the department through science clubs, competitions, practical workshops, enrichment activities, and opportunities that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach Science across KS3, KS4, and KS5

  • Deliver engaging practical and theoretical lessons

  • Prepare students for GCSE and A-Level Science examinations

  • Develop students’ scientific enquiry, reasoning, and problem-solving skills

  • Plan and supervise practical investigations effectively

  • Assess student progress and provide high-quality feedback

  • Contribute to curriculum planning and departmental development

  • Support STEM activities and science enrichment opportunities

Candidate Requirements

Essential Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

  • Experience teaching Science at secondary level

  • Ability to teach KS3 and KS4 confidently

  • Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills

Desirable

  • Experience teaching A-Level Science

  • Specialism in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics

  • Experience supporting STEM clubs or academic enrichment

  • A proven track record of delivering strong student outcomes
