Our client is seeking a committed and reflective Religious Studies Teacher to join a well-regarded Catholic secondary school in Portsmouth. This is a full-time, permanent position starting as soon as possible, offering the opportunity to teach in a faith-centred, supportive and academically strong school community.

The Role

The Religious Studies Teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality Religious Education across KS3 and KS4, with the opportunity to teach KS5 depending on experience. The role requires a thoughtful, engaging approach that inspires students to explore faith, ethics and moral responsibility within a Catholic context. Key responsibilities will include:

  • Planning and delivering engaging Religious Studies lessons in line with the Catholic ethos
  • Supporting students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
  • Assessing, tracking and reporting on student progress effectively
  • Contributing to collective worship, liturgical life and school faith activities
  • Working collaboratively within the Religious Education department and wider school community

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Religious Studies Teacher (QTS, PGCE or equivalent)
  • Ability to teach Religious Studies at KS3–KS4 (KS5 experience desirable)
  • Commitment to Catholic education and willingness to support the faith life of the school
  • Strong classroom management and positive behaviour strategies
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Right to work in the UK
