A highly regarded school in Portsmouth is seeking to appoint an ambitious and talented Head of History to join its successful Humanities faculty. This role is to start in September 2026.
This co-educational school in Portsmouth has an excellent reputation and a strong community ethos. The successful candidate will lead and develop the History department, delivering engaging and high-quality lessons across KS3 and KS4 (with KS5 teaching available where suitable).
Working closely with senior leaders and the wider Humanities team, you will drive standards of teaching and learning, oversee curriculum development, monitor student progress, and contribute to raising attainment and engagement in History across the school.
You will also be expected to promote extracurricular History opportunities, including educational visits, debating activities, enrichment programmes, and wider cultural and historical events.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
