We are currently seeking a proactive, organised and highly skilled Facilities Manager to oversee the site, buildings and grounds of a thriving secondary school in Portsmouth. This full-time, permanent role begins January 2026 (or earlier) and is ideal for someone with strong leadership ability, excellent practical skills and a thorough understanding of health & safety compliance.

The successful candidate will take a strategic lead on maintaining a safe, efficient and welcoming learning environment for staff, students and visitors.

Responsibilities:

  • Leading the day-to-day running of the school site
  • Managing caretakers, cleaning teams and external contractors

  • Managing security systems, alarms, access controls and site safety procedures

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in facilities, estates or site management (school experience desirable)
  • Strong understanding of health & safety, safeguarding and compliance
  • Ability to lead a team and manage contractors effectively
  • Practical maintenance skills across multiple trades
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving abilities
